Independent Retailer thinks “Out of the BIG BOX”!

StorefrontDenton Independent Retailer thinking “Out of the Big Box”!

Along with a new location PJ’s Party Supply & Rental has a new vision. Over the last 14 years June Schiada, owner, has seen many trends come and go. What she noticed was how so many party stores mirror each other. The same Disney Princesses, the same current Super Hero down the same aisles.

In 2013 she had an idea that started a major change in what this little business has to offer the community. June did away with all the major licensed character themes found at all the big box stores. Instead she listened to her customers over the years and decided to bring in what the big box doesn’t. “So many times”, June says, “people would come in just wanting a Construction theme, not Handy Mandy, or a Monkey theme, not Curious George”. Now there is a place you can search for that unusual theme you would have to go online for, with one exception, you can touch and feel it here.

Some of the themes they now carry is Medieval, Roman, Space, P.S.I. (a spin on C.S.I.-great for Mystery Parties), Fire Truck, Construction, Bumble Bee, Lady Bug, Cheerleading, Superhero, Farm Animals, Cows, Safari, John Deere (Pink and Green), Mossy Oak Hunting Camo, Mossy Oak Baby Shower, Baby Reveal, Monster Truck, two styles of Horses, Owls, Pink Pirates, Giraffe Print, Leopard Print and more. She has expanded the Western, Decades, Casino, Hollywood and Luau themes. She also helps people put parties together that don’t have a theme on the market. June just finished helping a patron put together a Hobbit party using Mossy Oak Tableware, some Fall Leaf Garland, Gold Coins and Green & Brown Crepe Streamers. “Our staff is so creative and always eager to help our customers design their special theme”, June declared, “We also have a blog page for fun ideas.”

They remain the best retailer for core party supplies. They have over 25 colors of Solid Colored Tableware, over 40 colors of Latex Balloons, over 25 colors of Crepe Streamers and over 25 colors of Balloon Ribbon just to name a few signature items. All displayed in neat organized aisles, which is a bonus! June stated, “We just brought in 7 colors of Polka Dot, Striped, Chevron and Zebra Print Tableware and decorations. People have always come to us for our variety of core merchandise.”

The balloon counter is unmatched. Along with the usual foil balloon assortment they offer more than just a dozen helium filled balloons. They have people come in with Pinterest pictures that want them to duplicate the balloons. June told us, “We are happy to figure it out. We also make Pearl Arches, Columns, Flowers, Balloon Pacifiers, and never charge for making arrangements. We will consult with them to get just exactly the right look for their event. We continually work on new creations to offer and have our own Pinterest page for inspiration.”

“In addition to party supplies they offer a full line of party rental items. They rent Tables, Chairs, Linens, Concession Machines, Wedding Accessories, Centerpieces, Catering Equipment and more. They will work with their clients to service every aspect of their event. And if they don’t have it, they have a large referral center to offer the shopper. “The referral center is filled with other Independent Businesses that offer services in the Entertainment Industry. I am a strong advocate for small business!” June professed. Whether it be a Birthday, Wedding or Baby Shower this store is where you need to start your search. They definitely live by their motto “You invite the guests, We’ll supply the rest!”
